Shark Reef closes at Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon, the unique and long-running Walt Disney World attraction, permanently closed its Shark Reef snorkeling experience earlier this month.

The popular saltwater lagoon located within Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park allowed guests to snorkel through schools of fish, including actual sharks. As part of Typhoon Lagoon’s current expansion, the inhabitants have been relocated to other care facilities.

Typhoon Lagoon recently announced that Miss Fortune Falls, a new family raft ride, will open in 2017, but no further details have been released about the future of Shark Reef’s former home.

Clearly, Disney is changing things up and will be hard at work over the next few months given that earlier this year they announced the closure of Twilight Tower of Terror in Disneyland, California. The tower will remain but will undergo a remodel and reopen in 2017 as a new ride called Guardians of the Galaxy.
