RIU Hotels & Resorts has inaugurated the Riu Plaza New York Times Square, its first hotel in New York City. The newly constructed hotel has an excellent location in the heart of Manhattan, just a few steps from Times Square and the city’s most famous hot spots. All of these features make the new, 647-room hotel the ideal point from which to explore the city.
RIU has invested a total of $310 million in the project, its largest investment to date. This included purchasing the land, constructing the building — with its modern style and 29 floors — and fitting out and decorating the hotel, with simple and contemporary design of eye-popping color and sleek furnishings.
The 29 floors of the Riu Plaza New York Times Square Hotel stand out because of their cutting edge and elegant design and their more than 600 ultra modern rooms equipped with a mini refrigerator, desk, television with multimedia connections, central air conditioning and heating, among other amenities, which have been designed to offer maximum comfort. Rooms are divided into doubles, executives, family suites, junior suites and the presidential suite.
A facility fee includes access to the cloakroom, a water bottle in each room, unlimited access to the gym and several other services.
With respect to dining, the hotel houses the Fashion Restaurant and the Capital Grab & Go bar. Fashion is an à la carte restaurant for dinners and lunches and offers buffet breakfast in the morning. It is also open for snacks from 12 PM to 11 PM. In turn, Capital offers coffee, tea, soft drinks, snacks, sweets and healthy bites to eat.
For business purposes, the hotel has two conference rooms with capacity for 70 and 75 people, respectively, along with two meeting rooms. Guests can also rent full audiovisual equipment and all four rooms have Wi-Fi connection.
The Riu Plaza New York Times Square is located in the heart of NYC and is surrounded by iconic sites such as Central Park, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, Carnegie Hall and the luxury stores on Fifth Avenue. Its extraordinary location makes the hotel the ideal spot from which to enjoy the authentic pace of New York life and an interesting array of cultural and leisure activities.
If you want to have a real adventure and discover New York’s major neighborhoods and hidden gems, this hotel is a great choice considering it is located close to the city’s main subway lines which cover all of the Big Apple’s boroughs. The 7 train, which is only 6 minutes from the hotel, will take you to Queens where you can visit Long Island City, the borough’s most fashionable neighborhood; the A and C trains, just a quarter mile from the hotel, will take you to Brooklyn where you can visit Prospect Park; and, lastly, the 3 train, which is 6 minutes from the hotel, will take you to the Bronx and the ferry which will take you to Staten Island where you can take in the spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty. Just a few steps beyond the hotel guests have access to everything New York has to offer.
With the opening of the RIU Plaza New York Times Square, RIU now has five hotels in its urban line: the Riu Plaza Berlin in Germany, the Riu Plaza Panama in Panama City, the Riu Plaza Guadalajara in Mexico, and the Riu Plaza Miami Beach in Florida.
