Ontario Science Centre – Toronto

At any given time of the year, the Ontario Science Centre, is a fun and exciting place to visit.  Located at 770 Don Mills Road in Toronto, the science museum has been one of the city’s most attended tourist attractions since it opened to the public in September of 1969.

A collection of exhibits, presentations, and interactive displays play prominently into the building’s many levels and wings, featuring astronomical science, geology, communication, music and technology, human anatomy and the science of nature.  Visitors could spend an entire day with these exhibits alone, especially as the Centre has continued to expand with new presentations over the years, including The Human Edge, which was added in 2013 and explores the potential of the human body, and the Science of Rock ‘N’ Roll, which was given a permanent home in 2014, denoting how science and technology has helped to shape music.

But the Science Centre doesn’t stop there.  It also features a popular IMAX Theatre, with a continually changing array of science and nature movies.  Plus, it hosts temporary exhibits as added attractions. Over the years these have included a Harry Potter Exhibition, Game On 2.0, which depicted the history of video games, and the ever-popular Body Worlds, which drew a record number of visitors to see the human body dissected as never before.

Currently, the Ontario Science Centre is hosting a phenomenal exhibit called Mammoths and Mastodons – Titans of the Ice Age, running February 10th – April 24, 2016.   As the name suggests, the presentation takes a look at the prehistoric giants the roamed the northern hemisphere during the last Ice Age.  Hands-on displays, fossils, and life-sized replicas help visitors to visualize these creatures of long ago, and interactive stations allow for experiences of what it’s like to be a researcher.

This unique Toronto attraction also hosts birthday parties and team building events, so it’s an excellent place to host a private or corporate celebration or get-together.

If you’re a fan of science, nature, music, larger than life movies, and one-of-a-kind exhibits, then head to the Ontario Science Centre… and do it SOON so you don’t miss Mammoths and Mastodons, as well as a special exhibit called CIRCUS!  But if you do miss out, the Centre undoubtedly will have another thrilling presentation coming soon.
