Set in the heart of Banff National Park and nestled in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, the welcoming town of Banff is one that needs to be seen to be appreciated for its breathtaking beauty. No matter the season, this is a destination that is alive with visitors, charm, and the call of the wild juxtapositioned with world-class shopping, dining and a wide range of accommodations. From luxury hotels to cozy inns, Banff has something for everyone. For BHDT, we have a Favourite 5.
Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel – Undoubtedly, this property is one of the most famous hotels in Canada and was the first to be built in Banff over 100 years ago. Alternatively known as the Castle in the Rockies, the Banff Springs boasts a spectacular setting, with a variety of excellent restaurants, a world-class spa, a championship golf course, and superb views of the Canadian Rockies. The hotel features all the amenities and service of a world-class resort, with 764 guest rooms and spacious suites. Guests can ski during the winter, hike and sightsee in the summer, and access upscale shopping, local galleries and museums, and events at Lake Louise. Popular attractions in the area include the Banff Gondola and the mineral-rich hot springs.
Rimrock Resort Hotel – This spectacular hotel (as shown in the lead photo above) is located above the town of Banff and offers luxury accommodations and breathtaking mountain views. The property’s 343 guest rooms and suites are spacious and comfortable and positioned so that all can enjoy the beauty that is Banff. The Rimrock Resort Hotel features two restaurants, two lounges, and a coffee shop, and the on-site spa is equipped with squash courts, steam rooms, a sauna, an indoor pool and whirlpool and cardiovascular equipment. Convenient onsite convention and wedding facilities make this hotel the perfect choice for memorable events.
Fox Hotel and Suites – This hotel property isn’t considered a luxury destination like the Banff Springs and Rimrock, however, it’s just as beautiful in a simpler, more woodsy sort of way. We like it for the convenience factor, moderate rates, and family-friendly ambiance. Fox Hotel and Suites, like the name suggests, offers both standard rooms and comfortable suites for guest seeking extra space and amenities. Some suites even contain cozy lofts in addition to living space and a kitchen nook. Within walking distance to downtown Banff, this hotel offers free continental breakfast and free tickets for the local Banff transit bus. Fox Hote & Suites also has a unique hot pool, fitness room, and a popular Chili’s restaurant on-site.
The Rundlestone Lodge – This hotel is conveniently away from the activity of downtown Banff, yet is only a 10-minute walk or a 2-minute bus ride away. The hotel’s 96 guestrooms include a variety of bed configurations, all of which include free Wi-Fi, a desk, a sofa or armchair, plus a DVD player. Several types of suites are also available, including a honeymoon suite, with available amenities such as gas fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs, and kitchenettes. The 45-foot lap pool is a popular feature, and there is also a large whirlpool, exercise equipment, plus the popular Bumpers Beef House and Lounge on site. This property also has a heated underground for parking, which is a nice touch.
Moose Hotel and Suites – As one of Banff’s newest properties, the Moose Hotel and Suites is somewhat whimsical given the presence of moose art throughout the property, including in the bathrooms. Within walking distance to downtown Banff, this hotel features tasteful mountain style accommodations, including standard rooms to one and two bedroom suites with balconies and kitchenettes. Each room offers Luxury Beds, Mountain Rain Shower, A/C and free WiFi. Amenities include the Meadow Spa with 10 treatment rooms, plus there are two rooftop hot pools with a fire pit, an indoor pool, and an onsite Italian restaurant.
