Golf Destination – Atlantic Dunes at Sea Pines Resort

In just the last month, golf fans have had a feast with the Open Championship, the PGA, the Olympics and the Ryder Cup still to come. Now it’s time to get up and visit The Golf Island to create your own “major” experience that will include, in October, the new Atlantic Dunes course at The Sea Pines Resort, designed by Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III, his brother Mark, along with lead architect Scot Sherman of Love Golf Design. It’s a complete reconstruction of the historic Ocean Course with a seaside dunes appeal that will be the perfect complement to the 30 plus other great designs carved from the Lowcountry forests.
The Lowcountry layouts are showing off their version of the Gold Medal, named “North American Golf Destination of the Year” by the International Golf Tour Operators worldwide.
There’s nothing else like fall golf on The Golf Island. The mornings can be crisp, the courses are still in full bloom before the Bermuda roughs go dormant or the ryegrass over-seeding takes over, and a 1 p.m. tee time is as good as one at 8 a.m. (and probably even more affordable.)
