Walt Disney World and Lyft have unveiled a cute and clever partnership, offering a new type of on-demand transportation service in Disney’s Orlando parks, aptly calling the project “Minnie Vans”. To that end, the Chevrolet vans are painted in bright red with white polka dots, simulating Minnie Mouse’s dress. Additionally, on the car door, there is an outline of the signature Disney mouse head wearing the red and white hair bow that is associated with Minnie.
The van service is staffed by costumed drivers and is priced at $20/trip. Vans begin operations at 6:30am every day and end at 12:30am.
With 27 vehicles currently in the fleet, guests of Disney’s Beach Club, BoardWalk, and Yacht Resorts are now able to request a Minnie Van to take them anywhere within the resort. The vans seat 6 passengers and are equipped with 2 car seats for travelers that need them. Additionally, 2 of the vans are equipped with wheelchair accessibility.
The Minnie Van operation is just part of Walt Disney World’s strategy to improve transportation within the park. Next phases will include a gondola system, called Skyliner, that is planned to connect the parks with some of the newer resorts and attractions.
